उत्तर प्रदेश में दुधवा टाइगर रिज़र्व (DTR) के बफर एरिया में पहली बार एक रेनबो वॉटर स्नेक (Enhydris enhydris) की तस्वीर खींची गई है, जो इस इलाके की रिच इकोलॉजी को साबित करता है। 35 cm लंबा यह सांप स्किन बदलने (ecdysis) की वजह से थोड़ा इनएक्टिव था और उसे थोड़ी-बहुत हैंडलिंग और मेज़रमेंट के बाद सुरक्षित छोड़ दिया गया। इस सांप के दिखने से तराई इकोसिस्टम की डाइवर्सिटी का पता चलता है; पिछले दो सालों में उत्तर प्रदेश से छह नई प्रजातियों की रिपोर्ट मिली है। दुधवा टाइगर रिज़र्व उत्तर प्रदेश के लखीमपुर-खीरी ज़िले में भारत-नेपाल बॉर्डर पर स्थित है।
Rainbow Water Snake
A Rainbow Water Snake (Enhydris enhydris) was photographed for the first time in Uttar Pradesh in the buffer of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR), proving the area’s rich ecology. The 35 cm snake was slightly inactive due to ecdysis (skin shedding) and was safely released after minimal handling and measurement. The sighting highlights Terai ecosystem diversity; six new species have been reported from Uttar Pradesh in the past two years. Dudhwa Tiger Reserve is located on the Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur-Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh.
